The Glass Castle " I was on fire" Reaction

 The reaction to chapter two 


            The second chapter is completely different from chapter one since we hear more about the background of the woman, the mom, the dad, and her brother. The second chapter started talking about when she was a chill when she was three years old. The accident that happened, just hearing about that when she was three years old she was cooking hot dog, you can start realizing that something is not right, since when we were three years old we don't cook or we can't be close to the kitchen, that was crazy. 


        The narrator has such a beautiful way to express everything that happened without saying the exact words and when you pay attention and read slowly you will get what she is saying. With the unfortunate accident we learn more about the mom, when the daughter was yelling and screaming because she was on fire, the woman just wrap her up with a scratchy blanket all over her body. And she even liked that blanket. And very calmly, She went out with her to look for help in the trailer that was next to his. At that moment we start to understand more about her mother, since she didn't show maternal instinct, she was calm asking for her to her neighbor. The neighbor was different she threw everything aside and ran out and took her to the hospital in the car. That is a whole difference between someone who cares and others that maybe care but not that much.


       The closest relationship that she has is with her brother. In the hospital we hear her talking with the nurse as if she was an adult, she takes everything so mature and calm. She likes to be in the hospital because she has everything that she needs, and that she didn't have before. She loves to be in the hospital since everybody was nice to her. Her mother was not so happy with that and his father treat her as if she was an adult, she talk to her and the doctor in bad language. They are not like every father since they didn't like that their daughters to be in the hospital since they don't trust the doctor. And the father just ran out of the hospital with his daughter, possibly they are afraid that the authorities will take his daughter away from him.


The second chapter was full of surprises

    On the final day of the war  "The woman and her rifle"     Back in 1848, there was a woman with her rifle. She was the most confident and fearless woman in town. She was the protector of women's rights in her town called "Fair village".                        One night in town a woman named Mireya hears a voice, yelling for help.  HELP! HELP! And then the voice stops. Mireya with a sleepy face gets up in her bed trying to wake up. Something strange happens. She was completely sure that she heard something, but she was confused because the voice stopped. She stayed still to see if she could hear it again and then the cries of desperation came back again. And she left her room to the living room to try to address where the screams come from. She made sure that noise was not in her house and she went out.  She was in shock, she could not believe what happened in the village. She saw a woman being beaten up, she tried to defend herself and she yelled at the man.
